The ‘Toast Rack’

The Toast Rack

Well-being Office Design

The Hollings Building, known by locals as the Toast Rack, was the 1960s design of Manchester architect Leonard Cecil Howitt. The brutalist landmark has been disused by its former educational occupants the MMUniversity for several year, currently in deteriorating state my design conceptualises the 8-storey space transformed to present workspaces orientated towards wellbeing; incorporating qualities of biophilic design to improve users wellbeing and create integrated garden spaces.

This project forms part of my final year interior architecture BS(Hons) degree project for the Universty of Salford 2023.
